Comments Resulting From Bernanke’s Speech to the Joint Economic Committee, But Not From Ben

No offence to Ben Bernanke, but his comments before the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) were not as telling as comments made by two Senators.

From Senator Brownback (WSJ):

Sen. Sam Brownback, a Kansas Republican, told Mr. Bernanke that he was "delighted you're in that job and I'm not."

The second comments came from Senator Charles Schumer (WSJ):

Sen. Charles Schumer (D., N.Y.) is no amateur when it comes to florid political statements but he outdid himself in his economic rhetoric at yesterday’s Joint Economic Committee hearing with Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. “Frankly, I think we are facing what are essentially the four horsemen of economic crisis: falling housing prices, lack of confidence in creditworthiness, the weak dollar and high oil prices,” he said in his opening statement.
