Below is a quick description of the rich. There are about 6.15 million households in the US with investable assets (does not include real estate) of $1 MM or more. That is about 5.3% of the total number of households in the US. Most millionaire households are business owners, married, and older.
The following is a demographic description of the rich as defined by Infographics. Basically, the rich are broken out into 3 groups:
Affluent = $1MM - $5MM in investable assets
Super Affluent = $5MM - $25MM in investable assets
Ultra Affluent = $25MM+ in investable assets
investable assets = assets less real estate
